OK LTAP - Chip Seal WorkshopThis one-day class consists of two parts - a classroom instruction that goes into detail on the proper procedures to use when doing a chip seal operations. The second part is a demonstration on a walk-around and proper set-up on both the oil distributor and chip spreader. A chip seal is a treatment of the surface of a paved road. It is designed to seal and protect the pavement and extend the life of the road. Chip seal paving improves road quality, protects road surfaces from water damage, and provides increased traction for vehicles. Studies have shown that applying a chip seal to protect roads while they are still in good condition is the most cost-effective strategy for maintaining roads.
